Teen Tech Week 2016: Home

What is Teen Tech Week?

Teen Tech Week is when libraries make the time to showcase all of the great digital resources and services that are available to help teens succeed in school and prepare for college and 21st century careers.

Celebrate Teen Tech Week March 8-11, 2016. Each day during all lunch periods, the GBS Library will be hosting special events designed for students to examine different facets of technology.  The GBS Library strives to create a space that extends teens’ learning beyond the classroom by fostering an environment where they can explore, create and share content.

Teen Tech Week is a national initiative of the Young Adult Library Services Association (YALSA).  The purpose of the initiative is to ensure that teens are competent and ethical users of technology, especially the types offered through libraries. Teen Tech Week encourages teens to take advantage of the technology at libraries for education and recreation, and to recognize that librarians are qualified, trusted professionals who can help them achieve greater digital literacy.

Contests! Prizes!

Teen Tech Week wouldn't be complete without some awesome techy prizes!  This year the Library will be raffling off a complete Raspberry Pi 2 Starter Kit that comes with everything you need to get started.  Every time you visit one of our activities throughout the week, you will receive a raffle ticket good for a chance to win a Rapsberry Pi complete with all the accessories you need to get started.  Come back every day to increase your odds!

Our popular Book in a Jar contest is back again!  We have selected a mystery book to be chopped up into pieces and stuffed into a jar.  Visit the Circulation Desk to inspect the jar and try to guess what book it is.  If you guess correctly, you can win a GBS Library Swag Bag!

Friday will be Trivia day in the Library!  Ms. Jacobson will be hosting a trivia contest on the Library floor during lunch.  Bring your friends and compete to see who is the ultimate trivia master.  Candy will be awarded to the winners.
