To make the most of your Google search:
- Use Google to find information about experts and institutions/organizations you find in your research. Use specific names and details in your search (e.g. "National Health Care for the Homeless Council"). When searching a researcher's name, include his/her professional affiliation to find that specific person: Google "Dennis Culhane" University of Pennslyvania rather than "Dennis Culhane".
- If you're looking for research on a particular topic, be sure to include terms that reflect it: LGBT homeless youth (research OR studies) rather than LGBT homeless youth.
- Limit your search(es) to .edu and/or .gov domains (but not at the same time): LGBT homeless youth (research OR studies) site:.edu ; LGBT homeless youth site:.gov
- Remember that not all .org sites are created equal. Always look at the About Us link to find out what the organization's mission is and who is responsible for the site's content.
