Tips for finding videos for instruction

  • Since this is a history project, it may help to add the term history to your search (pop art history. hip hop history, etc.)
  • Videos for learning should be short; some research shows that students tune out after 6 minutes.
  • Use filtering tools to locate shorter videos unless you want to edit longer videos

Tips for curating (or making) videos for instruction

  • Keep them short:  1-2 minutes for a quick introduction to an idea. Up to 5 minutes is good for deeper dives into concepts or ideas.
  • Break longer videos into segments so learners can understand the context.
  • Signal upcoming content with simple text (see examples below).
