So, what are we researching?

Example: I’m writing a story about getting lost in the desert.

1. Make a list of topics that must be researched in order to write an authentic story.

  • plants/animals that live in deserts

  • temperature and weather conditions

  • dehydration

2.  For each topic, generate questions to answer.

  • What does it feel like when a scorpion stings you?

  • What edible plants grow in the Arizona desert?

  • How hot does it get during the day in Yuma, Arizona? At night?

  • What are the symptoms of dehydration?
